Seattle Performing Arts Schools & Programs New performing artists can get their start in the Seattle area at several schools. University Of Washington has a School of Drama, School of Dance and a School of Music where students can get at the heart of the meaning, history, and practice of the performing arts. Seattle Pacific University boasts a faculty with the top artists in all of its Performing Arts programs. For the amateur performing artist, or those just getting into the field, North Seattle Community College has a drama program that focuses on aspects of theatre, film, and communication.

Attendin great schools in an environment steeped in artistic culture is one thing, but actually earning a one's keep is another. Never fear in Seattle. Job growth through 2012 for actors is expected to be near 8.9%, for producers and directors it's 11%. Set designer positions are expected to increase by 20%, choreographers at 17.1%, and dance positions should see a 14.8% increase over this time period. With over 800 musicians and singers and over 900 actors working full-time in the area, these increases in the number of positions translate to significant employment potential.
